Breaking Glass Pictures - Summer DVD Slate

It's getting hot outside and things are heating up at Breaking Glass as we prepare to release are upcoming summer DVD releases.  We've got something for everyone: from a psychological thriller to a gay 1980s period piece to a dark, high school coming-of-age tale:


June 12

• Almost Kings: A high school coming of age story featuring a knockout cast of stars to watch (including Chronicle's Alex Russell).  When freshman Math whiz Ted joins his older brother Truck's gang of friends - who call themselves "The Kings" - he gets drawn into their competition to see who can sleep with the most freshman virgin girls. 
• House of Boys: When high school runaway Frank arrives in Berlin in 1984, he's seduced by the wild nightlife and takes up residence at the famed gay burlesque house called the House of Boys.  Featuring Udo Kier in a scene-stealing role as the Madame of the House - plus a soundtrack full of 80s hits.  
• You'll Know My Name: Two high schools guys in a south Jersey wasteland duke it out for a girl in this modern update of classic Western themes.  

July 3

• The Casserole Club: In a 1960s suburb, a group of housewives decides to form a recipe club and hold regular dinners with their husbands to see who can make the best casserole.  But friendly competition soon turns to boozy flirtation and more than recipes end of getting swapped at their parties.  Featuring former Backstreet Boy Kevin Scott Richardson in a breakout role. 
• GONE: The Disappearance of Aeryn Gillern: When police veteran Kathy Gilleran receives news that her son – a U.N. employee overseas in Vienna and a former Mr. Gay Austria – has disappeared, she’s outraged to learn that the Viennese police have ruled his case a suicide after only a brief investigation.  This haunting documentary follows Kathy as she sets out to find her son and uncover the true reasons behind the police’s failure complete a thorough investigation.

July 31

• Scalene (available on DVD & Blu-ray): Emmy(r)-winner Margo Martindale (TV's Justified and Dexter) makes an indelible performance as the enraged mother of a mentally handicapped man who's been accused of rape in this psychological thriller told from three opposing perspectives.  

We're back!

Hello all!

It's been a while since our last post, but now Breaking Glass Pictures is back in full blog mode and we can't wait to get you excited about our upcoming releases and what's going on with the company!

Since our most recent post, we've acquired 8 awesome new films.

Kinyarwanda is a haunting and beautiful movie about the genocide in Rwanda. Given a rare four stars by Roger Ebert, he wrote, "I thought I knew something about Rwanda, but I didn't really know very much. I was moved by "Hotel Rwanda" (2004), but not really shaken this deeply. Not like this. After seeing "Kinyarwanda," I have a different kind of feeling about the genocide that took place in Rwanda in 1994. The film approaches it not as a story line but as a series of intense personal moments."

Kinyarwanda had a theatrical release. But if you happened to miss it in theaters, never fear! It will be out on DVD on May 15th. Pre-order here!

New Trailer: Wound

Vicious Circle Films will release director David Blyth's sinister, hyperviolent horror flick Wound on DVD. The film follows Susan, a woman who's haunted by the daughter she left for dead.

BGP Acquires 'The Fields'

We're very pleased to announce that we'll be releasing The Fields - a chilling psychological thriller starring Cloris Leachman and Tara Reid - on DVD and Blu-Ray April 24.

The film takes place in the Pennsylvania countryside during the fall of 1973 when Joshua, a young boy, is sent to stay with his grandparents while his mother and father work through their marital troubles.

Joshua quickly develops a morbid fascination with the corn fields surrounding his grandparents house. His grandmother warns him to stay out of the fields so as not to get lost, but strange noises at night suggest that something dangerous is lurking in the corn stalks. Then, strangers resembling members of the Manson Family start showing up in town and the family dogs disappear. Though Joshua's family tries to keep him away from the fields that doesn't mean whatever's lurking in the fields won't come out to find him!

Thanks to convincing performances from Academy Award (r) winner Cloris Leachman and Tara Reid, gorgeous cinematography and a script that builds suspense to the closing scenes, The Fields is one thriller you won't want to miss this Spring.

Mindy Cohn 'lights up the screen' in 'Violet Tendencies'

Reviews for Violet Tendencies have been rolling in (the DVD came out this past Tuesday) and the critics have agreed on one thing: Mindy Cohn rocks as the lead.

The “Facts of Life” star takes a decidedly more risqué turn as Violet, a lovably raunchy middle-aged woman who struggles to distance herself from her adoring gay friends in order to nab a boyfriend.
