'After the Wizard' Makes Honey Boo Boo Holla

7-year-old beauty pageant queen and reality TV sensation Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson showed some love for Breaking Glass Pictures on her Facebook page after receiving her very own copy of After the Wizard.

The film, which imagines what happens to Dorothy after she leaves Oz in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, is the first family film from Breaking Glass.  Seems like a perfect choice for Honey Boo Boo to enjoy with her family - that is, once her go-go juice wears off.

Fingers crossed that we'll see an Oz-themed pageant performance from Honey Boo Boo in the near future!

Screaming in High Heels comes out on DVD September 4.

Mind the (Age) Gap: 'Nate & Margaret' Explores a Modern Friendship

Based on appearance alone, Nate and Margaret - the two titular protagonists at the heart of director Nathan Adloff's Nate & Margaret shouldn't be friends.  He's a gay, 19-year-old film student and she's a 52-year-old waitress by day/aspiring stand up comic by night.  But the unlikeliness of their friendship is part of the charm of this understated comedy.  Thanks to its snappy writing and strong performances by leads Tyler Ross (The Wise Kids) and Natalie West (TV's Roseanne), it's totally believable that easygoing Nate would befriend the quirky, self-deprecating Margaret and vice versa.  Of course, conflict ultimately arises when Nate finds romance in his feisty classmate James and Margaret's standup act catches the interest of a talent agent.  As their paths diverge, the two friends suddenly have less time for each other and less patience for each other's differences.

Nate & Margaret sharply observes that transitional phases can occur at any point in a person's life - and it's this common link that allows its two main characters to find common ground in spite of the age gap between them.

For those of you who missed Nate & Margaret during its nationwide film festival tour, be sure to catch it when it arrives on DVD August 28.

We're back!

Hello all!

It's been a while since our last post, but now Breaking Glass Pictures is back in full blog mode and we can't wait to get you excited about our upcoming releases and what's going on with the company!

Since our most recent post, we've acquired 8 awesome new films.

Kinyarwanda is a haunting and beautiful movie about the genocide in Rwanda. Given a rare four stars by Roger Ebert, he wrote, "I thought I knew something about Rwanda, but I didn't really know very much. I was moved by "Hotel Rwanda" (2004), but not really shaken this deeply. Not like this. After seeing "Kinyarwanda," I have a different kind of feeling about the genocide that took place in Rwanda in 1994. The film approaches it not as a story line but as a series of intense personal moments."

Kinyarwanda had a theatrical release. But if you happened to miss it in theaters, never fear! It will be out on DVD on May 15th. Pre-order here!

Also new to our Breaking Glass family is House of Boys (available 5/29), You'll Know My Name (5/29), Almost Kings (6/12), The Casserole Club (7/3), Scalene (7/3), Nate and Margaret (7/31) and After the Wizard (8/7).

We would also like to say welcome and introduce you to our new interns! Stephanie, Vasyl, Meghan and Findlay will be with us for the next six months.

Keep checking back for more info. But if you need a more daily dose of Breaking Glass (and let's be honest, who doesn't), follow us on twitter @breakingglasspx or on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BreakingGlassPictures.

BGP Acquires 'The Fields'

We're very pleased to announce that we'll be releasing The Fields - a chilling psychological thriller starring Cloris Leachman and Tara Reid - on DVD and Blu-Ray April 24.

The film takes place in the Pennsylvania countryside during the fall of 1973 when Joshua, a young boy, is sent to stay with his grandparents while his mother and father work through their marital troubles.

Joshua quickly develops a morbid fascination with the corn fields surrounding his grandparents house. His grandmother warns him to stay out of the fields so as not to get lost, but strange noises at night suggest that something dangerous is lurking in the corn stalks. Then, strangers resembling members of the Manson Family start showing up in town and the family dogs disappear. Though Joshua's family tries to keep him away from the fields that doesn't mean whatever's lurking in the fields won't come out to find him!

Thanks to convincing performances from Academy Award (r) winner Cloris Leachman and Tara Reid, gorgeous cinematography and a script that builds suspense to the closing scenes, The Fields is one thriller you won't want to miss this Spring.

Check out the trailer below and be sure to "like" The Fields' Facebook page for the latest updates.
